Our Value Line of affordable pet steps are not made from plywood, they are made from Oriented Strand Board (OSB) instead. The thickness of the OSB used in our Value Line of affordable pet steps is 7/16”, compared to 3/8” thick plywood used to make most other pet stairs. OSB costs less than plywood, but is rated to be just as strong. That’s why sales of OSB have surpassed plywood for use in home building applications (such as sub-flooring and wall sheathing). Why pay more?

A lightweight, carpet-like material is used for the covering on our Value Line of affordable pet steps sometimes referred to as “needle punch carpet” or “needle stitch carpet”. It looks a lot like the material that lines many car trunks. Because it is quite a bit thinner than the carpeting used on more expensive models, the screw holes on the sides of these affordable pet steps are visible.

Another feature of our affordable pet steps (which can also be found in more expensive models) is they are built with an open back. This also keeps costs lower and most people don’t mind because the back of a set of pet stairs is usually up against a bed or a chair and is not visible. Some manufacturers of the more expensive models will add a back panel for an additional cost, but it is not an available option for our Value Line of affordable pet steps.

In addition, there are currently no color options; all six sizes in our Value Line are available in beige only.
