If your pet will use the pet stairs in multiple locations, you may want to consider the weight of the stairs before making a purchase.

Placement: Will the backside of your designer pet steps be exposed?

To keep prices low, some pet stairs have an unfinished, open back. This is okay with most people because pet stairs are usually placed against a surface where the back will not show. However, if you intend on placing your designer pet steps in a position that will leave the back exposed, some manufacturer's of open-back designer pet steps offer optional backing (for an extra charge).
