Dogtra Bark Collar Systems

Dogtra dog collars are well-known and widely used by sport hunters for training their dogs in the field. However, they also make a line of no-bark collars, called Yapper Stoppers, to control unwanted barking. Dogtra shock collars are very effective tools for bark control, however it is not recommended to use a Dogtra collar with aggressive dogs.

Just like most other Dogtra collars both of their Yapper Stopper dog bark collar models are rugged and 100% waterproof.

If you are looking for a small dog bark collar, the Dogtra YS300 Yapper Stopper is for small to medium sized dogs that weigh at least 12 pounds. It is one of the most popular rechargeable bark collar products because the Dogtra battery that comes with the YS300 is a quick-charge (only two hours) lithium polymer battery.

The YS500 Yapper Stopper Dogtra shock collar is for larger breeds that weigh at least 35 pounds. This collar is also powered by a rechargeable battery but the NiMH battery in this model takes 10 hours to fully re-charge. Many people like to have a spare NiMH battery on hand so when one Dogtra battery is charging there is always a battery available to them that is fully charged.

Both Yapper Stopper models have surgical-grade stainless steel contact points to help reduce skin irritation. Even so, it is strongly recommended that you wash the contact points and your dog's neck with warm soapy water at least once a week.

In addition, Dogtra recommends that you avoid more than two hours with the contact points touching the same spot on your dog's neck. Just move the collar a bit so they make contact with a different area.

This is necessary because many dogs will have skin irritation to one degree or another if the contact points touch the same spot on the skin for extended periods of time. Some dogs can even develop a condition called pressure necrosis, which has been described as similar to bed sores.

So what do you do if you are at work all day and are unable to move the contact points every couple of hours?
