Dogtra e-Fence Dog Fence

Dogtra's e-Fence is an underground electronic dog fence that many people prefer over conventional pet fencing. A conventional pet fence can be chewed through, jumped over or dug under and they usually cost a lot more than an underground wire dog fence.

The Dogtra eF-3000 dog fence has some special features (discussed below) but still basically works in the same way all other electric dog fence systems do. You bury a wire in the ground to determine the desired boundary line and attach each end of the wire to a wall-mount transmitter inside your home. If your dog approaches the boundary while wearing the e-Fence Dogtra collar receiver, the collar will receive a signal and deliver a correction.

One of the features on Dogtra shock collars is a warning vibration before a static correction is delivered. After a period of time many dogs learn to back away from the boundary with the vibration warning alone. At that point many people find that they are able to replace the stainless steel contact points on Dogtra dog collars with plastic, microbial probes.

Plastic probes cannot deliver static correction, but the dog still feels the vibration warning. That's why plastic probes are included with all Dogtra e-Collars for pet containment.

The dog fence by Dogtra comes standard with 500 feet of 18-gauge underground fence wire, about enough to create a 1/4 acre pet containment area.

If you need a larger area the transmitter on the Dogtra e-Fence is powerful enough to cover up to 40 acres. You'll just need to purchase additional dog fence wire and flags. We carry Dogtra's e-Fence Expansion Kits; each kit comes with 500 feet of 18-gauge wire and 50 flags. Dogtra's 18-gauge wire is stronger and thicker than the standard 20-gauge dog fence wire that many other brands use.

However, any wire that is made for underground fences will work with a Dogtra e-Fence, or any other brand of e-Fence. We also carry wire for PetSafe, SportDOG and Innotek dog fence systems (makers of the popular Smart Dog fence systems).

But what if you want a heavier gauge wire? Or what if you want some pre-twisted wire? High Tech Ultra Wire is the strongest and thickest underground dog fence wire we sell. It is 40% thicker and about three times stronger than standard 18-gauge wire and it is guaranteed against breakage for 20 years!

High Tech Ultra Wire is also available in spools of pre-twisted wire. When you install any underground dog fence you need to twist wires to cancel the signal in places where you want to allow your dog access…to pass through your house door for example. If you have areas that will require a lot of twisted wire, you may want to consider getting a spool of pre-twisted wire.

The system can also be expanded to include any number of dogs. You just have to purchase additional Dogtra collars for each dog. Dogtra shock collar receivers are completely waterproof and include a rechargeable Dogtra battery.
