Parrot Cages

Parrot cages must first and foremost be large enough to accommodate your bird. And since parrots can be as small as 5" (measured from the end of the bill to the tip of the longest tail feather) and as large as 39", you'll find parrot cages offered here in sizes to accommodate them all.

Parrot cages also must have the proper thickness of the bars as well as the correct amount of space between the bars for the size and breed of your bird. If you have not done so already, please refer to the link above to help select bird cages by size and breed.

A word about lead and zinc in parrot cages:

Lead and zinc can be toxic to parrots and any reputable manufacturer of parrot cages ensures, through independent laboratory testing, that their bird cages are completely non-toxic and bird-safe.

Don't forget that toys and chewables help keep a parrot happy and healthy, too. So don't hold back, put some fun into your parrot's life! Some experts say that parrot toys should be switched out for new ones every week or so, to keep things fresh and interesting for your pet. Of course, toys don't last forever. It can put a dent in your wallet to keep your parrot flush with toys.

If cost is a concern, try your hand at making your own parrot toys for a fraction of what they would cost at retail. Because either way, store-bought or hand-made, your parrot will be a happier, healthier, better behaved bird if he or she has plenty of toys, puzzles and games. So, if you don't get a play top, it is a good idea to get a cage that is roomy enough for your parrot to play with all those toys.
