SportDOG Bark Collars

There are three different SportDOG bark collars to choose from, each with differing features and price points. All have one thing in common and that is they are all easy to use.

The SportDOG No Bark 10r (referred to as the SportDOG Rechargeable bark control collar at America's Pet Store) has 10 levels of correction and three correction modes to choose from. The PerfectBark technology eliminates that possibility of a false correction, since this SportDOG bark collar is only activated by both sound and vibration, thus eliminating that possibility that a static correction will occur on your dog as a result of other dogs barking in the neighborhood. The best feature of the SportDOG No Bark collar is that is uses rechargeable NiMH batteries. No need to worry about dead batteries or purchasing hard to find battery replacements with the rechargeable SportDOG 10r bark collar. It is also waterproof and submersible up to 25 feet.

The most popular of the SportDOG bark collars is the SportDOG Deluxe Bark Control Collar SBC-18. This SportDOG bark control collar also uses the Perfect Bark technology to eliminate the possibility of a false correction. This SportDOG SBC-18 collar has 18 levels of correction (8 more than the rechargeable SportDOG bark collar) and weighs only 1.5 ounces. This bark collar is a great deal at such a low price, but you will have to replace the batteries on this collar. Fortunately America's Pet Store does carry all SportDOG replacement batteries, and free shipping on all batteries as well. This SportDOG Deluxe Bark Control Collar will fit most size dogs with neck sizes from 6 to 28 inches in circumference. The collar is waterproof and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

The SportDOG SBC-6 Standard bark control collar is a basic, no frills bark collar. It is significantly cheaper than either of the other SportDOG bark collars. It has 6 levels of correction but does not utlize the Perfect Bark technology. It might be worth the extra money to upgrade to the SportDOG Deluxe Bark Control Collar since emitting a static correction to your dog when he doesn't bark would be very confusing to him in the training process, and could make the barking worse.

As with any dog training collar that uses metal probes to emit static correction, you should be concerned about the possibility of skin damage on your dog's neck from wearing any bark collar for extended periods of time. SportDOG recommends only using a bark collar for 8 to 10 hours per day in order to prevent pressure necrosis, a condition that is similar to bed sores. It is also important not to have the collar on too tight and to rotate the positioning of the collar probes every few hours in order to prevent this condition.
