There are several advantages to purchasing an exterior door or a storm door with a pet door already installed. For starters, they eliminate the need to cut a hole in one of your existing doors.

Our exterior doors with pet doors pre-installed come ready to hang. Just remove your existing door from the hinges and replace it with either the Pet Ready XPD50 or the Pet Ready XPD75.

NOTE: Exterior doors with pet doors are not bored for the door handle or countersunk for door hinges. For accuracy, this should be done at your home using your existing door's lock and hinges as a template. This will ensure the door handles and hinges will be placed correctly when installed.

Our storm doors with pet doors are available in two standard storm door sizes and also come ready to hang. Several options are available for pet doors sizes and brands. Brands available are PetSafe Pet Doors, Patio Pacific Pet Doors and Ideal Ultra Flex Pet Doors.

It used to be that the most searched for model was a storm door with a pet door pre-installed, followed by exterior doors with pet doors already built in. But now we also carry Full View Glass Inserts designed to replace the glass in your existing exterior door. These Full View Glass Inserts with pet doors are even easier to install and cost less than a exterior door or storm door with a pet door pre-installed.

Full View Glass Inserts with built-in pet doors come in two standard sizes and also offer two different pet door sizes, medium and large. It should be noted however that these pet doors are not for small dogs because the "rise" is fairly high. The "rise" is the portion of the pet door that your pet steps over to get through. Dogs using Full View Glass Insert pet doors should have 8 – 10" of space between the floor and their belly when standing on all fours. Also, because of the high rise, these inserts are not really designed to be used as pet doors for cats. Although some young, spry, ambitious cats might be able to manage using this pet door. It all depends on the age and health of the cat as well as how strong their desire is to have the ability to come and go through a pet door.

If your existing exterior door has a glass insert that can be uninstalled by removing screws (not nails) and is in a two piece frame (inner and outer) and matches the dimensions of available Full View Glass inserts then your door is compatible with these convenient new pet door products.

Built in pet doors are also found in pet doors for sliding glass doors. Pet doors for sliders are full size panels that match the height of your sliding glass doors. The panel has a pet door already installed. All you need to do is insert the panel into the tracks of your sliding doors and that is pretty much it. Some of these patio pet doors do not require tools to install (they use a spring loaded pressure mount system). Other models, especially extra tall models, do require that you secure them with screws.
