Window Pet Doors

America’s Pet Store carries a wide variety of window pet doors, from basic models to others with special features such as tamper-proof locks or energy-efficient flaps. Whether you are looking to put a pet door in a vertical sash window (one that slides up and down) or a horizontal sliding window, you’ll find window pet doors here for either case.

Although more commonly purchased as cat doors, we carry all sizes, not just small pet doors. You’ll find several brands that are large enough to be used as window pet doors for dogs. Patio Pacific makes large window pet doors, Ideal makes what they call “Super Large” window pet doors (15”W x 20”H) and Hale goes all the way up to “Giant” with a pet flap that is 15 1/2”W x 27 1/2”H.

Please Note: If you are searching for large pet doors or XL pet doors for windows you may need a dog ramp to ensure easy access as well as your pet’s safety. (Or, if you have sliding glass doors, perhaps it’s worth a look at some of our pet doors for sliders. Many models of pet doors for sliding glass doors are just as easy to install and remove as window pet doors.)

No matter what kind of pet door you might be looking for there is one thing that is true across the board for all of them: your pet must be able to fit through the flap opening. Believe it or not, it is one of the biggest reasons people return window pet doors: they didn’t think to check the flap size before purchase and then they find that their pet can’t fit through them!

Do yourself a favor and take note of the dimensions of the flap entrance on any pet door you buy, and then compare it to the size of your pet. No matter where window pet doors are purchased, from America’s Pet Store, or anywhere else, you’ll save yourself potential hassle if you measure before you buy. It’s not difficult and only takes a few minutes.

One way to be absolutely sure about the size is to cut out a hole in a piece of cardboard that is the same size as the flap entrance on the pet door you are considering. If your pet can fit through the cut-out hole in the cardboard, then the flap size on the actual window pet door will work, too.
